Jim Barry: Verticals of Florita, Armagh + McRae Wood

'We made our first (Armagh) when Sam was in my underpants'

That's Peter Barry, current Jim Barry Wines GM and Barry family patriarch, in typically blunt form. Funny uncle telling bad jokes form, if you get what I mean.

12 fantastic ratings and reviews for our wines

Yet more good reviews this time from The Robert Parker South Australian Report. Twelve of our wines have been reviewed and they've done extremely well.

Here is what they had to say:

Three Wines in Matthew Jukes '100 Best Australian Wines' 2012

We are delighted to have three of our wines in Matthew Jukes '100 Best Australian Wines' for 2012.

Here is what he had to say...

"The Benbournie" Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

The Benbournie region was settled in 1853 by Catholic German friends of local priest, Father Kranewitter. The tiny settlement compromised about 15 mud huts surrounding a Roman Catholic chapel.

Sight:
Intense and deep claret
Smell:
blackcurrant, menthol, mint, plum. Supportive complexity of rosemary, clove, sage and soy sauce.
Taste:
Living up to its ancestry. Sultry and sexy tannins. Structural yet non obtrusive. Ostentatious blackberry, prune and valrhona dark chocolate. Tangible and persistant length- grilled eggplant, roast pumpkin, roast capsicum, nutmeg and coffee.
Time:
A wine created with the Jim Barry philosophy to be enjoyed upon release with a period of long term cellaring under correct conditions that will only enhance the wine's qualities.
